Look out Kitty, I'm hitting the floor too! Mmmm, Tsetse...surely the Mossie was one of the most remarkable aircraft ever built?
Those last action shots are classics but seeing the actual film is so much better than the stills. And I love the tsetse - the way the recoil pushes the aircraft back - sweet
A couple of more vids. The first one just doesn't sound right with an American commentator: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=d7pNBSRkEiQ http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=-cb6SmK_c2g
Here are some shots I took back in the 70's when I was stationed at RAF Cosford. They are scans from slides.
Great photos: warbirdregistry.org - A Warbirds Resource Group Site - De Havilland Mosquito and attached a detailed history of the aircraft (including it's film role) from: www.rafmuseum.com/cosford/collections/aircraft/aircraft_histories/67-A-595 Mossie TA639-II.doc
I think it could be an extra drop tank. Not sure. I love Cosford museum. View attachment 1245 View attachment 1246 View attachment 1247 Dammit I must go back with the 10mega pixel camera :clapping:
Drool would affect the wood hence the padlock... Quite embarrassing but I can't remember the Mossie from my visit to Cosford. Must dig those prints out.
As you walk into the WW2 hangar at the back, there is the Spit in front of you, the 109, Hurri and Mustang off to the right, the Cat behind them in the corner, and in front of her, directly behind the Spit as you enter, is the Mossie. The Jap fighters are off to the left as you enter, and the Lincoln is on the very far left corner by the exit. *Thinks about this* OK add Cosford to the list with Formby and Alrewas
Oh, while Im thinking about it the Vulcan is no longer outside, shes the star exhibit in the new Cold War hangar which is feckin huge! Makes the old airfix kits hanging from cotton look somewhat lame.
The Cold War Hanger is excellent, you have a Canberra PR9 hanging from the roof, a F86 hanging from a side wall and a sliver Lightning hanging again from the roof pointing straight up!
A present for Kitty... Just for you, Kitty. I reckon you can ID the aircraft for yourself. Not sure how recent the pic is but definitely last year. Avspecs - Current Projects
