These are all the New South Wales cemeteries. If any are in your travels, please let me know and I will forward the list.

    Hi Spidge,

    Certainly email me the list.

Bowral Cemetery is about 2 minutes from home for starters.

    Regards,

    Owen

    Thanks Owen,

Like many areas, there is only one at Bowral.

Let me know the other cemeteries you might be able to get to and I will make up a spreadsheet accordingly!

    Hi Owen,

The 145 I had for 100sq was incorrect. The sort I had done had a group of 100sq RAF included.

I have only 113 on my list, all inclusive!

    Cheers

    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,

If you have a spreadsheet of the names, I may be able to cross-check.

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff,

    The additional 2 losses I have are;

    (i) FLTLT George Laurie PARK 418652
    02APR45
    Beaufort A9-493 (Collided with -667)
    Posting on death: RAAF HQ.

(ii) FSGT James Sharpe HAMERSLEY 415140
    05MAR44
    Beaufort A9-480
    Posting on death: 14 Squadron

I note that they don't have 100 SQN as their posting at time of death. They were lost in 100 SQN Beauforts. Both had been operational with 100 SQN for some time preceding their death, so the other details may have come through after their deaths?? I know Frank Smith was promoted to FLTLT after his death.

    Hope this assists.

    Cheers

    Owen

    Strange!

My master copy already has Park as 100sq. Seems the sort didn't pick it up.

    I have Park as 418562.

    418562 is correct.

It was a tyop error made in haste.:)

Just out of interest, did you get all your info from the Nominal Roll, Roll of Honour or the CWGC?

    Hi again,

I referred to the excellent book, "Song of the Beauforts" By Colin M. King.

He cites ORB records and the AWM as his source.

    Cheers

"Song of the Beauforts" is very well put together. A mixture of facts, stats and interesting narratives. Mr. King served with 100 Squadron, so he knows what he's talking about.

I highly recommend it if you ever see a copy.

    Cheers

    Hi again all,

Just for those who receive the excellent AWM magazine, 'WARTIME', there is a feature on the Beaufort in New Guinea and a picture of FLTLT F.O. Smith and the ill-fated crew is included.

    Regards,

    Owen

I knew there was some link to your stories, Owen, when I read that article but I couldn't place it. The hang-up was what reminded me.

That issue was very WWI heavy. I started ploughing through it again last night.
