Is it Morse's turn? I is confuzzled now. Not that this isn;t an easy thing to achieve before anyway like Kyt cares to say it.
I am still trying to find a good obscure photo with which to challenge the brain cells of the posters!
Douglas B18. Bomber version of the DC3; withdrawn from frontline service by the time the US entered the war.
The undercarriage was designed to allow as Eric Winkle states, "thus distributing the load and enabling the 232 to be taxied on uneven oor soft ground"
Correct The Arado 232 was way in advance of its time. It was the first military cargo aircraft to have a rear loading door and ramp. The millipede undercarriage is similar to that on the current Antonov 124 giant transport, used for the reasons Morse said. The Germans preferred quantity to quality and carried on producing Ju52s, and only about 20 Arado 232s were made.
To go back one quiz, just to be specific. This is a "Douglas Digby Mk.1". Assigned serial numbers 738 to 757 so this is #3 off the line. Now back to the new quiz ..... that looks tough!
When I was in Bulgaria last year, a AN124 overflew on its way to land at the airport and it was awsome! I later saw it at the airport but only at a distance as we taxi'ed by it. The next question will arrive shortly, I have a charity bash to attend the day and this is being written during a period of insomnia!
