Too damn right. What right does a yank have to tell him what to do when he is allowed to keep it by the RAF and the Queen!! :frusty: RAF pilot refuses US order to trim moustache - Telegraph
Anyone ever seen F/L Charlie Brown's, the well known Spitfire display pilot, moe? Pretty impressive. Is he still RAF?
A very softly spoken chap and a fine pilot. I've seen him fly the Mk V and, IIRC, he flew one of the '109Es that lives in the US on its post-restoration test flights, the Flying Heritage one if my memory serves me correctly.
Aviation can have dire effects on one's personal image. See attached pic of yours truly posing in a Grob 103 glider at Kenley I need to stress that I am nowhere as advanced a pilot as Chris Ball or Charlie Brown; I'm very much in the ab initio stage and am unlikely to be able to put enough time or money into it to to go solo. But, its not my moustache that has aroused the consternation of the instructors; after all it is a less magnificent affair than those of Chris or Charlie. The issue is my baseball-style cap. I am not the sort of chap to wear a baseball cap back to front; its really not the thing at all. If I was to walk up my local High Street with it like that I would probably be offered drugs or searched for knives. But the CFI believes that the brim of a baseball cap interferes with one's upwards vision. So before launch I have to reduce my IQ and social status by reversing it. :nono: On my last flight, the blasted thing fell off, when the reversed brim caught on the headrest when I looked upwards. In trying to catch it with my left hand, I simultaneously pulled back my right hand on the control column, nearly putting us in a high stall. The instructor was less than impressed. oster_oops: Unfortunately I do need a hat for sun protection, having minimal natural defences. I shall have to get a beanie hat before gliding again.
Kyt beat you to it, Moresman! eep: And to think I've been looking for one of those hats with the brim on the back...
Note to self! Must pay more attention in class and stop playing with myself> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > at cards!
I say Adrian, that is a magnificent 'tach. Suits you sir. Though I have to agree with your assessment of the reversed hat Nevermind Morse.... you opt for sleep, I opt for all night on the computer. I think you've made the better choice, even if it means posting stories late eep: :Booty:
