    Casualties

    Andy,
I know that both Australia and New Zealand had "Searcher" Parties on Crete Post War who recovered many bodies for a recognised burial. I should imagine the U.K. did the same but at some time drew a line under the project.

When on a trip to Tunisia I visited all the C.W.G.C. Cemeteries and noticed additional burial plots from when remains were discovered after the Cemeteries Dedication.

    A bloody excellent find, Kyt.

Brian, have you read The Searchers by Eames? It's about the Pacific RAAF searcher units.

Good read? The later discoveries would be even more moving - finally getting them a proper burial.

Seems to be but not far in. Starts with current arguements between the MoD, the families and enthusiasts about digging up possible remains. And the nocturnal treasure hunters who everyone hates.

    Searcher Parties

    Andy,
no I haven't read the book. What I have is the Diary for the 10th New Zealand Searcher Party that was sent by a friend.
A similar Australian unit had been on Crete prior to this time.
