General Frank M. Andrews A Founding father of the independent USAF. In February 1943, Lieutenant General Andrews became the commander of all United States forces in the European Theater of Operations. In his memoirs, Gen Henry H. "Hap" Arnold, commander of the Army Air Forces in World War II, expressed the belief that Andrews would have been given the command of the Allied invasion of Europe-the position that eventually went to Gen Dwight D. Eisenhower. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/fmandrew.htm View attachment 5

This is where Sir Trafford, his wife and crew are buried. View attachment 544 View attachment 545 View attachment 546 Another small cemetery where a RAAF officer is buried is the.............. Allemont (Le Rivier) Communal Cemetery in Isere, France. Sir Trafford Leigh Leigh-Mallory, his wife and crew of that ill-fated flight are buried here. Flight Lieutenant Casey (RAAF) was attached to the Air Ministry Unit. A more idyllic setting for a cemetery I could not imagine.
