    That is one impressive list of links. It has a very good cross section of sites, and though I haven't checked them all they do seem to be live. Nice one Annie

    As I am always looking for information on Aussies in the RAF/RAAF, I came across the loss of JA-691 on one of the resource links.

    This is the opening statement:

    I wonder in what context this statement was made as RAAF 463sq was involved in the deaths of at least (3) lads at Aabenraa.

    Further Information

    "Serial Range HK535 - HK806 This aircraft was oner of 200 Lancasters ordered from Vickers- armstongs (Castle Bromwich) as Mk.11s Sep41 and changed to Mk.111s Feb43, but built as Mk.1s from Oct43 to Feb45. Up to HK773 had Merlin 22 engines initially installed, and all subsequent aircraft Merlin 24 engines. Deliveries commenced Dec43, completed Feb45. HK537 was delivered to 463 Sqdn 8Jan44. Also took part in the Key Operation against Berlin 27/28Jan44. Lost on its second operation with a total of 18 hours. Airborne 0035 29Jan44. Outbound, collided with an 83 Sqdn Lancaster (JA967), crashing 0230 29Jan44 at Mjels on the island of als, 2 km SW of Oksbol. six were buried in Abenra Cemetery 2Feb44. soon after the war, the remains of Sgt Bull were brought to Abenra to be buried with his comrades, having been found in a private grave at Pommersgard Farm.     I think he has decided to use the generic "RAF" to cover all aircrew, including the Commonwealth airmen, and the seven Polish Air Force graves. The "all but two" probably refers to the fact that there are two Royal Navy graves there too.

    All Air Force except 2 !!
