Good to see such an effort being made.

My youngest Grandson (7) did a similar thing not too long ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also went to a ww2 air raid shelter, (which was opened a couple of years back) at one of the schools in Ipswich, it has sound effects of air raid etc. Glad to say it has got him hooked on ww2 now, albeit (I think he might be a bit of) a all things that fly person. Nice to think that the younger generation are getting hooked. He asked me about poppies last week and wants to go to a ceremony now.

He sounds like a very smart young man - everyone knows that all things that fly are the best :)

I hope they include the BBC WW2 History forum (now closed), where I "met" Ron Goldstein and some of his friends, as part of their studies. It was my latent introduction to WW2 which then eventually brought me here.

I'm sure I've said before that the war was simply not discussed in our house when I was a child and I have learned more in the last year than in the previous 60+ years.

In 1945 as a 5 year old I was dragged off to see all these men in uniform marching down the street. Why were people crying I probally wondered. I wish the adults would stand still as I tried to peer between all the adults at this site of marching men. Little did I know that I was part of history being witness to our troops returning home from War.
Children of to-day have not witness such an event and I feel it is a great idea
to have them dress for the war years and feel like they were in that era.
