    I especially like the sections on the problems of counting the casualties. He highlights the issues very well

    Very interesting.
    The way in which the casualty rates varied at different times in the war (early '42 seems to have been the worst for Bomber Command) was interesting; sometimes the worst figures seem to be given as the norm for the whole war, in which case the campaign would have been unsustainable.
    Nevertheless, the deaths of 110,000 "well-educated and highly-trained" young men was a terrible price to pay.

    That would be close to three full army divisions wouldn't it?

    I had 30,000+plus per division in my head for some reason Thinking of three brigades and went 30,000.

    Time for bed I think.
