Speaking of turkey, this time of year gets me thinking of the turkey breast roll Mum used to cook at Christmas time to add some variety to the ham etc. It was always left over and I always dined on turkey sandwiches for the week following Christmas. Bliss. Jodi mentioned she was going to get one for the festive season as Christmas lunch/dinner is at our place this year (the curse of moving and living in the same state rather than just visiting it :lol so I regaled her with the above story and then went off on a mince pie tangent...
I would rather have goose but the meat is quite an acquired taste and can be very greasy. Often wondered what pumpkin pie tasted like
Well I just took a 20lb turkey out of the oven .... ( smells wonderful !! ) I'm taking it tomorrow to a club for Vietnam Veterans .... my two young Developmentally Disabled men that live with me and I go every holiday to serve food ..... to the men who served us ! ..... So many of them are without families that care and for me it is an honour to talk to them and listen to their stories ..... Pumpkin pies will be done tomorrow morning ... these boys here love to help ... and have so much fun with the pastry and whatnot ! :clapping: I hope everybody has a wonderful day and please think of the men and women who are far from home ( just like in the card above ... it's the children of the servicemen who touch me the most ..... ) Happy Thanksgiving !
