It is not the red on the work that is a joke, it is the inability of the teacher to explain the errors. Children have to be taught and they need to understand what is marked in red is incorrect and the need to work on those difficulties with their teacher.
What's the chances of the FINAL utility bill being sent in Purple instead of red. Makes it less threatening don't you think? My school work was mostly red from what I remember, long time ago mind.

They had some so called child expert on tv last night who said the red pen made kids loose their self esteem. What a load of garbage. The so called expert looked only about 23 years old.
Next they'll be saying that red traffic lights should be banned because they tell people what to do. I had no problems with red markings - but there was one teacher who insisted on using green. Now that really was weird
