    Hi,

I am trying to piece together my father's movements in his last years and need some more help. He was sent out to Singapore with 250 MRU at the end of 1940 or early 1941. One of the things I would like to find out is the troop ship he sailed on. I know he was playing drums in a band they got together on the ship but that's all.

    All his records states is
    250 MRU no date
    250 MRU F.East dated 6/1/41
    250 R5 dated 11/3/41
    307 AMES no date

How can I find out the ship and it's sailing dates and route? Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks all,

    Stan

    Hi Stan !

Don't know if this will answer your questions ... but you may find this interesting ... there is mention of MRU No. 250 was soon erected on the south-east side of Singapore Island

It may give you some tips on where else to look !

Thanks Annie, Kyt had given me that in my other post. Very interesting and fills in a few pieces of the jigsaw. But now that I have got the details of the troopship he was on (post in RafCommands.com forum) it looks like he was internally posted on arrival in Singapore to 250 RS so may not have helped set up 250 MRU at Changi.

All you folk certainly know how to help people, you are providing a great service for the rest of us.

    Really appreciated,

    Stan
