To me this is unfair dismissal. Would it be right for a teacher to say that the earth was flat or some other falsehood? Teacher who told pupils 'Santa doesn't exist' is axed - Times Online
What?! He doesn't exist? Surely it's a leg pull... I think maybe dismissal is a bit harsh but kids almost have to grow up too quickly these days so it doesn't hurt to keep the fantasy going for a bit longer.
I second that although I actually agree with the disciplinary action for the following reasons:- She was only there for the day and therefore had little idea of any particular child's needs or insecurities. She was supposed to be teaching them about Christmas and even as an atheist I fully understand what it is supposed to be about ..... how did she stray so far from the point? Even if she was trying to emphasise the real meaning as apposed to the receipt of gifts there are so many ways that she could have achieved this without discussing whether or not Father Christmas really exists There must have been many warning signs along the way to tell her to stop going down the road she had chosen (if indeed it is true that many children were upset and I have no reason to suppose that they weren't). She obviously did not retrieve the situation. That said I'm not sure that in these circumstances, as a parent, I would then have perpetuated the lie. And I have never forgiven one of my older brothers for gleefully telling me the truth!!!! p.s. I understand that as a supply teacher she was simply removed from this school not dismissed.
Yes. They are employed by the local authority (probably held on a retainer these days) to fill temporary needs.
I remember my nephew causing quite a furor .... yelling down the chimney .... "Santa Clause" is dead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the little kids were crying ..... took us forever to get them calmed down !! Then a few years ago I came across this ....
Sorry Annie, but that photo is a fake. Myself and 1 8yr old personally tracked Santa in 2007 through the kind graces of NORAD. We even saw gun camera footage of his sleigh in flight, got a letter from his Chief Elf giving us his ETA, and found strands of long white hair which was definitely facial in origin. In the words of Pink Floyd "Teacher, leave those kids alone"
10 days to go - and counting !! ........ :clapping::clapping: Index Page I live about an hour away from Norad ....... and the North Pole ... so I know that photo is a fake too !!
