I just realised that this cemetery ( that looks after one of my Portuguese soldiers) has a few RFC and WW2 RAF headstones also ... thought you may be interested !! http://www.hiddenhorsham.co.uk/43/hillscemetery.htm Annie lane:
Interesting that the website owner states: As re: This is him (so he may have a memorial stone at Horsham rather than actually being buried there) Surname PHILCOX Forenames/Initials Michael Leslie Rank SAC Service Royal Air Force Service Number 5011027 Station RAF Akrotiri Place of Birth/Home Town Horsham, Sussex Date of Birth 01 November 1937 Age 20 Date of Death 20 May 1958 Cemetery Name Waynes Keep Military Cemetery Cemetery Address Nicosia Cyprus Grave Section 24 Grave Row E Grave Number 18 Included on Armed Forces Memorial Yes Included on Roll of Honour Yes PHILCOX Michael Leslie | Roll of honour | Armed forces memorial
I have a few RAAF lads in Nicosia War Cemetery in Cyprus however no one is willing to go there when they are on holiday due to its close proximity to the action. Still have to do a bit of research on these three. Anyone know where SFTS Macleod is located? Thanks Jerome, I think you are spot on the money. I checked my Canadian RAAF deaths and came up with one the same. The others were denoted as (7 FSTS RCAF) and (2 FIS Vulcan Alto) and all are buried at Fort Macleod - Alberta - Canada. Flying Officer Pivott seems quite difficult to track. Nothing on google either. From the Australian roll of honour I found he was with 79 OTU RAF and died in an accident. The posting at death I had was therefore incorrect.
