Does anyone kike Football or Baseball?, . I like [ in the NFL] the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Philidelphia Eagles. And in MLB I like the Boston Red Sox. Please post your opinions I might post in this thread but yet I might not.:cell::music: Or maybe you like Nascar? I hope some of you like Football?. I know I certainly do. I am okay with most any teams but if I do not like a team I will post about it.
Not into sport much at all but do like to spend hours watching cricket on occasion. Aussie Rules, AFL, is passable but I hate the hype that surrounds it. Enjoy motorsport but the F1, for example, is usually on late at night here. Our V8s are usually fun for a bit of paint-swapping but I haven't sat down for a Bathurst 1000 day for a few years now.
Hawk, it isn't football you are talking about, its rugby for cowards. Real football, especially a down and dirty match is good fun to watch. Not many of those these days though. Rugby can be fun for the scraps, but cricket is mind numbingly boring to watch. I much prefer watching the gee-gees.
That would imply that 60% of the world's population watch it, which I very much doubt. Infact the 2008 Super Bowl was watched by 97.5 million viewers in 2008 BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Super Bowl seen by 97.5m viewers The last comparative list for international sports viewing I could find was 2004: List of most watched sporting events in 2004 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Personally, I'm not a big sports fan. I used to watch F! motor racing but lost interest a few years ago. Even the 2008 was pretty tedious, and even the so-called nail biting finale wasn't that exciting. Football/soccar has become a glamour show rather than a sport.
Warhawk, can you please start editing your first post in order to add in your following posts? I've merged together your posts in order to made the thread easier to follow. And sorry, if any sports person needs to be kitted out like a tank in order to go into a srum then he's a wuss. Any American Football player up against a good rugby team would find himself in A&E very fast. (ER to you) When they need to mouth off and be macho, then its all fur coat and no knickers. Real sportsmen of that ilk just do all their talking on the pitch. Nobby Stiles, a real footballer, when in a good mood put iodine on his studs before a match. Thats being considerate to the people you are about to stamp on. I'm sorry Hawk, but any sport that feels the need to call itself a 'World Series' when it is played only in one or two countries is not worth my interest. WRC, now thats fun The requirement for at least 10 character in a post, as in words, is in order to prevent new members boosting their post count just by posting one smiley answers.
Is that AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL? which basically means there are no rules !!! Now that does look a tough game.
Some who do not like the game call it aerial ping pong however they have not been ot on the ground trying to get a kick. There are rules mostly to do with a player going for the ball and being tackled illegally, pushed in the back, grabbed above the shoulders etc. It has been going since the late 1800's as a way for cricketers to keep fit during the winter months. There are 36 players on the field with four reserve players per team. They fly high to take marks, kick the ball 50 - 60 metres and they do not use padding. Could be classed as a mixture of Rugby and Football (Soccer) however ball handling, running, aerial marking, strong physical contact and direct passing and kicking for goal is are major components The high flying tough game - Not for pussies. YouTube - Aussie Rules Football Promo Sometimes it gets a bit rough! YouTube - The Best Fight In The AFL And a lot tougher! YouTube - AFL - BIG HITS Does not happen all the time - just sometimes. War Hawk, you need to read the replies more carefully as you seem to be getting upset about replies when they are posted in jest. Every country has "national" sports that they think are the toughest, most skilled, most entertaining etc. And every country will mock other countries' sports for not being the above. If you love a particular sport, then fine, I hope you enjoy it. But also be aware that threads like this will produce banter, and teasing. It is the nature of a thread in the Barracks
War Hawk, i have just had to merge together another 7 posts of yours in a row, after I specifically pointed out that you should edit the first post to add them on at the end. I accept you were getting caught up in the american football game you were watching, and that is fine. However that does not mean you can then ignore a request that was made to you on the same day. We have been somewhat lenient on you since you joined, in the hope you would settle down and adopt a posting style that is acceptable on this forum. However in the last few days your posting has become even more erratic than usual. This forum has a more mature posting style, where good spelling (typos not withstanding) and an easy to follow language is accepted. Your spelling and english, particularly use of slang is causing difficutly in following your posts. Also the random posts littered with emos that are not really required is giving us as Mods headaches. Please War hawk, take a few more moments to proof read your posts and correct obvious mistakes. And also join all subsequent posts together unless they are in direct response to another member who has answered your previous post. If I have to enter another thread where i need to merge 7 of your posts since my last visit I will just delete them instead. This is not a teenagers forum where random posting and bad English is acceptable, war hawk. Please step back and read your posts before hitting submit.
Warhawk: I suspect that you may be a tad anxious in view of the fact that Pittsburgh is going to get mauled this Sunday. Fitzgerald and Warner will connect for three TD's; Rothlisberger will find himself on another planet with a concussion (a bit of trashtalking here for the Americans in the crowd). As for the AFL, I have the greatest respect for those fellas. I saw a contest or two and after each, I had bruises and welts presumably arising vicariously from mere observation. OUUUUUUCCCCCCHHHHH! Best sport with a limited number of broken bones but involving strength and indurance: basketball............ Cheerio all, Fixel
The Cardinals were playing the Eagles number 3 defense and the Steelers are number 1 on Defense(and the Steelers are number 1 against the pass. And that is what the Cards are good at,. Arron Smith will murder the Cards ( James Harrison, James Farrior, Troy Polamalu, Lammar Woodley Casey Hampton That is a D.) As for their offense it could use improvements ( but remember defense wins Championships). We beat the Ravens 3 times . We have Byran Leftwich to back him up. Do you realize that t5he Eagles were sending 6-7 men at a time ( that is not how you beat the Cards) the Steelers only send 3-4 usualy. We are going to have Fitzgarald covered with Troy Polamalu. We beat the Ravens in the Championship after they beat the Titans.:argue::argue: And the Steelers had the hardest schedule this year ever according to sport talk shows and they still did this good. The Cardinals never had a great defense I do not think they are a team that will murder Roethilsberger they have a grand total of 2 good defensive players ( Bertrand Berry, and Adrian Wilson.)
Hi War Hawk I will be barracking for the Arizona team as I have relations living in Tempe. They also have an Aussie playing for them. mg::bottled0wl:
