Just watched Captains Courageous with Spencer Tracy, Freddie Bartholomew, Lionel Barrymore and Mickey Rooney which brought to mind............. I was discussing with a group of friends the other night how many parents do not pay enough attention to their children after seeing many kids as young as 12 walking the streets on a Friday and Saturday night. They seem to have more important things to do! A perfect movie on spoiling children with money and thinking everything will be alright. Anyone here old enough to remember this movie?
I have seen it a few times and always enjoyed it. Did Spencer Tracey get an oscar for his performance? Regards
Watched it a few years ago and still remember them pulling in hallibut or flounder. Kitty, Captains Courageous (1937)
He was nominated however Paul Muni won it for "The Story of Louis Pasteur". Edit: Paul Muni was in 1937 - Spencer Tracy won it for Captains Courageous in 1938 and again in 1939 for Boy's Town. I forgot he won two in a row.
