It is interesting to see how common the Swastika was before the Nazis usurped it. Badge Collecting Hi Annie, I started collecting badges a long time ago. I had 4 biscuit tins of them in the garage, doing nothing so I listed them and offered then on the net. Britania Medals of Kendal bought them with a few medals that I had. I got a very good price, but I lost a lot of memories. I have a few bits and pieces still around, but nothing like the collection I had, but my daughter needed a new car! Have a lovely New Year Cheers Keith
Hi Kyt, That is some list. I knew of the Finnish Air Force and a couple of the others but I mean 2 or 3. At one time I think it was mentioned as being a good luck emblem of the Indian Continent. Glad to be back but I have been tied up listing my batch of reference books on the computer. After all the highly detailed account of each and every pilot, (in each and every sortie of Baders command, which grew to three squadrons,) which tended to be heavy reading and and after a while boring, the man was shot down got a new leg, made himself a nuisance to his captors, not always to the liking of his fellow internees, who suffered a bit because of it, then freed in the matter of about a dozen pages. He has just got back to England which I will continue with later. Cheers Keith.

I have seen both varieties of swaztikas at hindu services here and it was explained to me by the Pundits that it matters not how the arms are arranged (since both designs are used) but rather that the hindu symbol is oriented vertically whilst the nazi symbol is oriented diagonally

Collecting Hi Kyt, I don't know if it is rare, it was given to me by a friend, a nursing tutor at the local hospital. He was also in the St.JAB. unfortunately he died after an operation a few years ago. The wing was presented to him for supervising emergency medical aid and nursing after performing voluntary duties on an air ambulance from Spain. Cheers Keith
