Taking photo's of graves in Ipswich, I found this one, the grave of L.F.W. Vermulen, and intrigued I did some searching and found this site; George Duncan's Historical Facts of WWII Has disasters as well as details of atrocities etc. Turns out he was a steward on SS Simon Bolivar hit a mine 18th November 1939 near Harwich.
