The cable ship FARADAY was bombed and set on fire by German aircraft on March 26th, 1941, half mile off St. Abbs Head, and sank the next day. Sixteen of her crew of 125 were killed. Ninety miles of submarine cable were recovered from the wreck. -------------------------------- Ship #23. Passenger/cargo ship KURENAI MARU built in 1924 for Osaka Shosen Kaisha. The motor vessel KURENAI MARU was sunk by U.S. carrier-based aircraft on September 9th, 1944, in the Sulu Sea. -------------------------------- Ship #24. Cargo ship N.C.MONBERG official number167478 built in 1928 for the Danish Coal Company, Denmark. The steamship N. C. MONBERG, on a voyage from the Tyne to London with coal, was torpedoed and sunk by a German motor torpedo boat on December 15th, 1940. Eight of her crew and one gunner were lost. Regards Hugh
I hope I am not around when as they say "The Sea Shall give up her Dead" however the number of ships/boats on the oceans floor must be absolutely incredible. The number of deaths at sea over the past 60,000 years must be incalculable! May they all "Rest in Peace"
