    Bloody hell that's comprehensive. Great find, DL.

    I have read the occasional comment (most recently in Martin Bowman's Mosquito: Menacing the Reich) that the Canadian Mossies were not regarded equally when on squadron strength with UK-built ones but they must have done something right if they built that many!

    One of the captions to these photos said that the Canadian ones smelt different - because of different glue, rubber etc.!

    I got as far as photo 40; all very interesting. I wonder if the USAAF used theirs in action, and whether they thought the F8 [Mosquito] was better than the F6 [P38 Lightning]? Longer range probably.

    They certainly preferred the Mossie, AR. Longer range, yes, and faster. They also used coverted Mossies to make radio rendezvous with agents in Occupied Europe. The bomb bay was converted to hold radio gear and the Mossie would then fly up and down a predetermined line waiting for a signal. Once received, it would then orbit, sometimes at considerable height, while the 'conversation' took place.
