This nineteen-year-old ex-cheerleader (now an Air Force Security Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road. She engaged the target (i.e., she shot him). Turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban and he was burying an IED that was to be detonated when a US patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers. The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her:
Who ever said a Women can't do a Man's job lol.I have too say that the women did it a lot faster and shifty than a man sniper would have done. I actually would feel a lot safier having a women protecting me now than a man after reading this thread. And what kitty mentioned before, women do it in style,it's in our blood.
Good to see women who are in the thick of it, not enough publicity down here at least of female soldiers who are involved in actual combat type ops.
um..cause she did want she had to do,and even blew him up (pretty fast and shifty)while a man sniper would have stop and wait to see what the Iqary man would do next.
Exspecially an 19 year old female soldier Ex cheerleader, that is something speical. Cheerleaders are very very girly, and she manage to change into a sniper. Girl power.
You don't think any sniper (male, female or otherwise) would be trained well enough to respond more or less the same way? They'd all have the same orders - if it looks suspicious, engage the target.
Yes, they have a tendancy to shoot you if you don't act like a gentleman..... .....but they'd be handy for protection, and they could walk you back home
Oh,i know what you are thinking now lol,i do not think women are better snipers than men are,of cause a man would have shot the iqray man in the same situation.
A male would've made the same shot, because it isn't that hard to learn to shoot a gun. Andy said "You don't think any sniper (male, female or otherwise) would be trained well enough to respond more or less the same way? They'd all have the same orders - if it looks suspicious, engage the target. " Exactly Andy.
Hi Andy, Call me old fashioned, but I am saddened by the fact that we have a lady all trained up to kill people, even though it was probably necessary to take this individual out. I prefer to know what I am fighting for back home, not next to me, and in danger. Andy, what did you mean by "male female or otherwise" Robot, autokill unmanned F.O. ? I prefer :cheer2: to :assassin: All I can say is "HELP" save our sense of humanity. Cheers Keith ps.you do sound a bloodthirsty lot.
erm why should the women stay at home in the kitchen? If they prove themselves capable of doing the same job as the men, why shouldn't we be allowed to fight as well? I'd rather be out there fighting to protect my home than waiting in an empty house scared to death of what may be coming up the road.:laser::aikido:
Some females make ideal snipers while not all males are suitable to the art. They are cool , calm, collected, calculating and dangerous.
True, CK, but I think you'll agree hitting a target of that size from 750 yards takes a bloody good amount of skill. All females are - including our poodle puppy. Can't believe anyone would want to give them a gun...
