Scopwick Church Burial Ground - Lincolnshire

There is a RAAF Pilot Officer Hunter George Wilberforce Smith 402678 of 288sq buried at this cemetery.

Does anybody have any further information?

(Edit) More info: SMITH Hunter George Wilberforce - (Pilot Officer); Service Number - 402678; File type - Casualty - Repatriation; Aircraft - Hurricane 1 W9244; Place - Southorpe, United Kingdom; Date - 10 December 1942

This is the listing that is on the website:
SMITH, H.G.W. Pilot Officer Royal Canadian Air Force age 28 d. 10 Dec 1942 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you"
P/O Smith is incorrectly listed as RCAF.

P/O Smith's death is listed as accidental over the North Sea on the Australian Roll of Honour. The body must have been picked up from the water or washed up.

His circular states he is buried in Shropshire Parish Cemetery - Lincolnshire?

His place of birth is listed as Labassa - Fiji Islands.

A Hurricane Mk I in very late 1942?

Ah, 288 was an anti-aircraft co-operation squadron. That would explain the 'old' Hurri. Apparently they operated a variety of aircraft for target-towing and simulated fighter attacks.
