.....and into the british bunker..... The armourer.. The surgery. The bunkspace. The French and (Left) the Belgian soldiers.
Artefacts.. Well that's about it from me on this trip. Please feel free to use any of my pictures as you see fit, I only ask that if you do, they are accorded the appropriate respect. I do have quite a few more pictures, if anyone has any specific requests, just ask. I would like to close in saying that this trip, for me, was a wee bit of a rollercoaster, the pleasure of touring around on motorbikes with great company was, well, excellent. The reason for the trip was personal but the sights we encountered at various were.. well.. enough to move a grown man to tears. I fully intend to repeat this trip, however, I will be conducting far more in depth research for my family members and I will pay the appropriate marks of respect with a far more personal focus. Buster
Oops almost forgot this, sitting at the side of the road - since 1918 - the entrance to a British bunker, now long since caved in... Inside....
Buster Thanks for all these. I toured the battlefields a couple of times a few years ago and visited several of these places, so the photos bring back memories - in particular, the Thiepval memorial, Tyne Cot cemetary, the museum at Albert and the one at Zonnebeeke. I'd like to go back, but time and money preclude at present. (The field gun in your post #3 looks like a WW2 25-pounder, not WW1). Adrian
That looks like a stone hot water bottle in the bunk space !! ( #21) made me stop and think there for a minute !!
