Ah, stuff it. I'd be more worried if Kitty approached you with a fire hose...and it wasn't on!

Good luck, Spidgeman! Everytime you need a smoke, post on here! :becky:

All the best with it, mate.

Good luck Spidge. How about using this thread as a progress report? That's what I intend to do.

45 years? And I thought breaking the habit after 26 years was going to be hard. Are you using patches etc?

    Using nothing except willpower.

Need to get over the habitual effect. Reaching for the pack in the pocket, having a coffee usually goes with a ciggy.

I better have a smoke, no I don't need one.

Having quite a lot of conversations with myself as to why I do not need to have one.

Almost a week into it, Spidgeman, so you're doing well.

The difficulty is when your hands are not busy.

    Hi Spidge
Congratulations! I always thought that one of those plastic / china cigarettes would have helped me through that not knowing what to do with your hands bit. I hid my handbag (where my cigarettes were previously kept) and moved the telephone away from where I normally sat, to try to break some of those associations. They are incredibly well ingrained though because even now I sometimes go to get my handbag before I sit down with friends.
I wish you the very best of luck - 45 years!!!! - you must have been smoking in your pram!!!!

I haven't told the girls yet and they have not noticed. I am waiting for the penny to drop.

Funny though I never did smoke in the house nor in the car with the girls in it.

I have saved $55 AUD (25 quid) up to today by not purchasing any smokes. Also haven't gone for the sweets or the extra food to compensate.

Meh, I've been at it for a little less than a year. It isn't a clean habit but

there are plenty out there that are far worse. Government is cracking down

on it now, you cant even have a smoke in a pub or restaurant

    anymore.

Edit: Best of luck Spidge, my grandfather quit after 50 years of smoking. Those bums in the USMC got him going back in 1952! :)
