Not a lot of interest in the Hampden so am going to post a few pictures here. This one is of a Hampden bombing up.
I know we often say that such and such aircraft is forgotten but the Hampden must get the prize for being ignored. Which is a shame because it played an amazing part in the early years of the war. Look forward to the pictures David (and I am seriously drooling over the sketches in the book)
Another Hampden picture. Note how the colour is about the same as the Canadian one at the CMF Collection.
Turmoil in Norwegian Waters by Marii Chernev. Operating from RAF Leuchers on January 29th 1943 Hampdens of 455 RAAF & 489 RNAF Squadrons Coastal Command escorted by Beaufighters attacked and sank the former Norwegian cargo ship Kaldes south west of Stavanger.
Bu***r, I was doing a bit of a search on the incident mentioned in #11 when I came across this book. And there was me trying to cut back on my book buying!! RAAF in Russia: 455 RAAF Squadron
Yes, I've been waiting till I find that one a bit cheaper as it's been coming up down here on a regular basis. Suspect I'll weaken in the near future!
