Next week the Buxton opera House is playing host to the stage play of the lost episodes of Dad's Army. I made the misatke, whilst half asleep before 8 in the morning, of telling mum I'd try and get a couple of tickets. £35 later and I am going to see a stage play of a programme i can't actually abide next wednesday. Anyone else seen it yet?
Mmmmmm, I see all that time and expense at Uni was not wasted then. You'll have to try a little harder not to get yourself into things you don't want to do won't you. And what's wrong with treating your mum to an evenings entertainment? She worked hard to bring up such a fine respectable young lady. Isn't all that worth a single evening watching something you are not interested in and may actually enjoy in the end?
I always am John. Safe for a few hours anyway (I hope) eep: Now all together: Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler, if you think we're on the run? We are the boys who will stop your little game. We are the boys who will make you think again. 'Cus who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler, if you think old England's done? Mr. Brown goes off to town on the 8:21. But he comes home each evening and he's ready with his gun. So watch out Mr. Hitler: You have met your match in us. If you think you can push us we're afraid you've missed the bus. 'Cos who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler, if you think old England's done?
Thank you for that sterling effort of support. horrid man. Problem is I am not a morning person. she chose her time well and sprung a guilt trip on me. grrrrrrrr :frusty: And Kyt. You are going to die.:>
well it wasn't the AD one his nibs has posted up. This was the professional tour. If you are into Dad's Army then you'll enjoy it. They took parts of the3 still lost episodes and slotted them in with scenes from other episodes. Was interesting. Seemed to be headlined by Leslie Grantham (Dirty Den in Eastenders) who played Walker, but mainly was just a secondary character. A few amusing bits. The guy playing Sgt Wilson was spot on, compete with tone of voice and the physical characteristics of the ear rubbing and everything. Pte Frazer again was spot on, and Grantham as Walker was OK. As tot he rest, the lad playing Pike was not good, but as he was doubling up as the few female parts he was worryingly good at them. All the others were not good. The guy playing Jonesy managed a few accurate moments but the rest of the time didn't have it right. The Man from Del Monte played Godfrey, but again he wasn't 'old' enough or ditsy enough. And the actor playing Mainwaring through that shouting was enough. It wasn't. The Verger and the ARP Warden whose name I can never recall were very accurate, and the German U-boat commander was rather handsome In all it was an OK evening seeing as I don't actully like Dad's Army any more, but my mum adored it. And it was as a thank you to her for running me to and from uni for 3 years.
should be, got seats in the dress circle, and as I am still technically a student until my final essay is handed in that was an expensive thank you
