It'd be nice if I could safely put my hand up but I've got enough on my plate as it is. Ask me in six months when I've sorted a few things out and am hopefully writing a lot more. I will, however, keep my eyes and ears open for reference material. I interviewed a Lib gunner a couple of years ago (actually the day Steve Irwin died) in Perth who has a magnificent collection of photos. I'll have to dig out my mini-discs me thinks. He's been interviewed widely before from memory so you've probably come across footage/recordings. Wish I could remember his name. Gaz, do you have any contacts in Australia? I need to get back into the swing of things but have very few contacts in Victoria and can't afford to fly back and forth to Perth!

The Navy version was the PB4Y-1 Lib. It was basically a Liberator with an Erco nose turret (rounded, bulbous). They had a ball turret, some removed it. Naval units used both D and later versions. The PB4Y-2 Privateer was significantly different in that it had different engines, no superchargers (operated below 10K ft), had two top turrets, and two Erco side turrets which were quite unique (plus the Erco bow turret). The ball turret was absent, and of course, the tail was quite unique (large, single). 12 fifties capable being brought to bear on a naval target. See photos of models.......................F
