Well ...... wonder if this will really work ?? Military veterans could be issued with special "identity cards" giving them priority access to public services and discounts on public transport, the Ministry of Defence said last night. Veterans' ID cards 'will offer priority NHS treatment' - Telegraph
I have heard this being touted before. Though I think veterans should get the best treatment possible, to give them priority in this way is wrong. I think everyone has the right of access to the NHS in a fair and speedy way, and the fact that that is failing is the responsibilty of the government. It is the same government who closed down all the specialist military hospitals in the first place - that would have been the best place for treating veterans, and that was what was being argued by them and their supporters before. But did the government listen? Like hell they did.
I agree with you Kyt in respect of the NHS. Medical need should be the only priority and it is disgraceful that we have closed Military Hospitals. I'd be quite happy to see them have free travel etc. though.
Yes when i first joined there were 10 Military hospitals, and that was 1978!! Unbelievable, be careful who you vote for, maybe its time to give a new party a chance!!
