At the airport community that we live in we have an annual fly in the first weekend in May. I have posted pictures here before and attached are shots of todays flight line and a visiting Yak.
This year however as well as visiting aircraft we also had visiting vintage automobiles. Firstly a shot of most of them together. I believe all of these are variations of the model T Ford.
The ice cream maker. Powered by an old John Deere engine this machine produced home made ice cream all day. It was delicious!
Some more shots. The third one I understand is a Dodge. One can almost see Al Capone riding in it! The last one is classified as a "Hot Rod" (whatever that means.) I understand that it has a modern Chevrolet engine in it and goes like "the clappers of hell!"
Seems to have been a great day David. Did the cars come from all over the US or just the southern states?
Great stuff, DL. I see a Cessna 180 leading up the first pic. Is the Beech in your second post the one you 'uncovered'? Cars aren't my strong point but I think about the only Model T you're missing there is the one with the tractor wheels on the rear!
The cars came locally from Alabama and Mississippi, I did notice one from Lousiana. The Beech 18 is not the one I am uncovering in the undergrowth. This is one that has just rotted away!
There is something very classy about old cars....until you try to start and drive one Nice pic of the Yak 52. And I take it my tub of vanilla ice cream is on its way?
Excellent photos David ... Is that a Yak-52 (trainer), it looks like one with that tricycle undercarriage, similar to a Yak-18.
I'm not sure what kind of Yak it is Blacksnake and John I was told the cars are worth about $10,000.00 each.
Yeah... Andy, thought it was, wing-tips a bit unusual though that's why I wasn't sure, despite the unique undercarriage.
those are some wonderful vehicles David, i hope you managed to pocket a couple while no-one was looking.
David, some of those old cars are absolutely beautiful and appear to be in mint condition. I'm not surprised that they are worth a small fortune.
