Hi All, Just a quick post to say that 'Nostalgair' is still around and dropping in...if not posting much these days. I'm flat out between our growing family, work and a handful of new projects. The numbers seem to be growing and the forum is going from strength to strength. Well done to one and all and 'Hi' to all the new members I've missed welcoming. Cheers Owen
well g,day mate from down under (south Ozzie) i am trying to hold up our end as it does look like it is picking up Cheers AJ
Through my research of all RAAF/RAF Aussies that died in WW2, I came across many South Australians with an interesting story of their time before their deaths. I will have to start a new thread of Aussies by state. The tragic story of Squadron Leader Robert Wilton Bungey DFC is a prime example. http://ww2chat.com/forums/biographies/1350-w-c-robert-wilton-bungey-dfc.html Commanding Officers 452 squadron Dutton, Roy Gilbert Bungey, Robert Wilton Truscott, Keith William 'Bluey' Thorold-Smith, Raymond Edward MacDonald, Ronald Sommerville Spence, Louis Thomas Barclay, Kevin Milne Decorations Australian personnel only: 6 DFC & 1 bar 1 MC 1 DFM 3 MID
Hi yes the AWM has heaps on its site and makes for great reading (I did read the Links you had what a tragic mistake for Bluey and even more tragic for Bungey ) and research .I have yet to get an Aussie DFC group etc as yet all the groups I have are RAF,RCAF,RNZAF Australian stuff is well so hard to get and very expensive .I am Going to Canberra in 4 weeks time so you can bet I will be going to the AWM for couple of days.Hopefully the aircraft section is finished i was there 4 years ago and that section was closed to public.I also have a large collection of ww2 general groups and gallantry ,with about the same of ww1 .I will get my pictures together an put them in the collections site Thanks AJ
Hi Owen - good to see you ! What is it they say about busy minds and busy people ? ............ :juggle:
From what I can gather, AJ, the aircraft section of the AWM is active again. Hope to get there myself before the year is out. Haven't seen it yet.
