I need to double check but the Baltimores would probably have been either from 55 or 223 Squadron. Would be interesting to get hold of the ORBS for the two squadrons to see what they say. EDIT: OK - i need my eyes checking - why I thought I read Baltimores when it says Marylands I don't know
A very lucky tanker. A Messerschmitt with a four hour loitering time? Can't have been a '109 then unless it had a long-range tank but even then I reckon it'd be pushing it plus the tank probably would have been dropped when the Blenheims arrived. 110 surely. Having said that, everyone seems to have misidentified everyone else int his incident so who knows if it was a Messerschmitt! LOL.
