Hi All, Found this going through one of my new additions. Liked it so much, I thought I should share it. A home I hope for more uploads. Cheers Keith
I doubt it. None of the immediate post-war urban myths (i.e. "Ginger" Lacey shooting down the German raider which bombed Buckingham Palace) are included, and the text has facts and statistics which could not have been written until at least the 1960s. More recent, methinks. BC
The Uploads are from a series of books with the group title "The Epic of Flight" printed by Time-Life Books of Alexandria, Virginia. The particular items are from one of the series " The RAF at War" there are about 20 books endeavouring to cover all aspects of flight from Kittyhawk up to "Modern Fighting Jets" The nearest I can determine is a date of 1981 for publication. The thread I hoped was for others to enter their own particular favourites of "The Few" I will continue as soon as possible, still being a bit hampered with the absence of my left hand, which is still recovering from the operation. I'm not talking about typing, I mainly use only one in any case, not being an accomplished typist. It's handling books etc which is a bit difficult. Look forward to other uploads. lane: Cheers Keith
Losses for one day 69yrs ago. Some may find this interesting ! :gossip: Cheers Keith Missed 501 Squadron rectified copy ready tomorrow :embarassed:
Personal Local Interest This is what I hoped this thread would encourage. It would be nice to research your own local "The Few" hero. Then post your findings here. Cheers Keith
Fl/Lt Reynell, an Australian in the RAF, number two on that list went up the next day again and was killed. View attachment 3647 View attachment 3648
Hi Geoff, Thanks for your post. I hope more will follow. In my small way, like this thread, I want to remember and thank them. When my hand picks up, I will pick another day for the list. Some day between July 10th- October 31st 1940. Cheers Keith
Hi All Nice to see that not all perished, this is a picture of some of " The Surviving Few" Cheers Keith
What's a little twinge compared to what they did. Herewith Day One. These details are of any action and damage to pilot or aircraft arrising from taking action against the enemy during the period referred to as "The Battle of Britain" Cheers Keith
I have started something here, but I think it's worth it. Herewith days four, five and six :faint:: lane: Cheers Keith
