    Hi guys,

Below is a short film (part 1 of a series) that I shot, wrote, edited & directed. I had limited resources but wanted to start telling some of the kiwis stories from the historic battle on Crete.

Looking to shoot a few more episodes and then produce a feature.

    Cheers

    Hi Logan,

    Great short.

See this is based on Alfred Clive Hulme VC. We discussed the authors accusations on the forum and are of the opinion of all that his actions were like the mantra of the US marines.

Improvise - Adapt - Overcome. He did all three and he is still a hero.

    Cheers

    Geoff

For those who are not aware, two NZ authors have written a book where they have suggested that Alfred Clive Hulme VC was a war criminal!

I was doing a documentary on the 150th Anniversary of 2Cant (Nelson, Malborough, West Coast & Canterbury's combined territorial force) and his name popped up - as he was from Nelson in New Zealand.

We hear a lot about Charles Upham here in NZ but Clive Hulme was a name that I had never heard. The name Hulme is famous through his F1 World Champion son Denny Hulme. I thought Clive's story needs to be told.

I will be fleshing out his story when I write and shoot a feature on the kiwis in Crete in a couple of years.

Maybe wearing a enemy smock is not in the boys own adventure thinking about World War but in the reality with out the para smock he probably wouldn't of lasted long enough to help save many of his fellow Kiwis,Creteans, Greeks, Aussies and Brits, from these snipers.
It's not that easy taking out snipers in any circumstances.

But these so called historians or IMHO Historical PC Thugs are just dragging up old ghosts and should leave surviving family members alone. No need to rub them up in any way. They have the right to write what they want in their book, but this Kiwi IMHO did not betray anyone or anything.

In many theatres Germans wore British/Imperial issue fatigues as they were a better quality than many articles of clothing worn by German troops in WW2, and I am sure if we searched we would find countless mentions where a soldier wore part of the uniform of the enemy, whether wearing it to get close enough to kill or just stay warm, they still wore them.

Keep it going LaoganGorilla, get them films going you never know where it might lead you.

We Aussies need similar for a modern audience,
I have some great ideas for TV series of ADF History unlike any that has been shown yet. However with the way i have them planned at the moment they are just too expensive with out major support from a TV channel and so on
