Memorial erected to Sgt. William Donnelly, RAF, in Fujeirah, UAE. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/g...rs-briton-killed-in-second-world-war-1.574463
Should have added, for those not familiar with the UAE, Fujeirah is on the east coast an hour or so from Dubai. Also U-533 lies offshore in about 100m of water. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/what-lies-beneath-nazi-wreck-off-fujairah-1.554341
The article lists his tomb as being on the same spot and him being the only Commonwealth casualty in the UAE - yet the CWGC lists him on the Alamein memorial. If his burial site is known, should he have a CWGC headstone and have that listed on CWGC??
Just got a few more details from my pal. Billy's grave was washed away many years ago in a storm. The memorial is as close to the original grave as can be ascertained but high enough from the flood level to ensure the same thing doesn't happen again. Nice story and I'm very proud my friend has worked on this.
