Hello, I've been passionate about everything to do with WW2 (European front) from being a child. I'm a semi-retired journalist, 50+ years young UK expat living in the US. My father was in the RAF, Dutch Squadron 322 and met my mother near his base in 1944. For the last three+ years I've been researching my uncle's life as a SOE agent (Special Operations Executive). He was parachuted into Holland on two separate missions in 1944. He died in Feb 1945 from his wounds following a shoot-out. (Both my father & uncle were Dutch nationals. They escaped under perilous conditions from Holland to the UK, Dad in 1940 and my uncle in 1943.) I have a Dutch colleague who is working on this project with me. At the moment we are going through "tsunami" of documents from Kew and I'm also trying to piece together his life in London from his agenda/diary 1943-45...so there may be a few queries about names and addresses. His English was not good and names/places were often entered phonetically. Huge jigsaw puzzle! Cheers and delighted to be a member, Suzanne
Welcome to the forum Suzanne. I'm sure that Keith and myself will help in anyway we can. Kind regards Mike
