WW1 men born or connected with the Poole/Bournemouth, Dorset Area

Thats interesting Annie - I will see if I can find out a bit more about the Buscalls. They might have been mentioned in the local paper. Back to my notes.

 

Private ALFRED BUSCALL of 1/6th battalion Cheshire Regiment died on 21 September 1918, aged 19.

He is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial and his name appeared on the war memorial at St Cyprian’s church, Brockley

He was born in West Ham in the spring of 1899, the son of John and Hannah Buscall, of 32 Coronation Avenue, Moordown, Bournemouth. .

Well there is a panel on find a grave ... and I've been squinting ... but I can't make out his name ... can you ?

No Annie, even though my eyesight has deteriorated from looking at too many newspapers on microfilm, I can't make out the name on the memorial either. Neither of the Buscalls got a mention in the local papers. Thanks.

I couldn't find either man in Kelly's or the Register of Electors, however - Moordown & Winton are situated next to each other so it's possible that they were related. Buscall isn't a local name and although I found John on the 1911 Census Index, Alfred isn't there. No service records only the MIC's exist and not much there either.

 

Interesting, here's his MIC for now. Morten.
