Hello Annie, Drifter "CITY OF LIVERPOOL" was mined and sunk off S. Foreland by UC 71 (Walter Warzecha). The memoriams of the crew lost on 31/7/1918: http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047133 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047154 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3039543 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047250 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047290 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047420 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047513 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047796 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3047820 http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3040194 Regards Hugh
Thanks Hugh - and thanks for taking the time to look up the men for me ! I appreciate it ! It seems Walter Warzecha was a well decorated man ! http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/WEHRMACHT/KRIEGSMARINE/Generaladmirals/WARZECHA_WALTER.html Did they scuttle her Hugh ? http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?14422 Annie
Hello Annie, Not to my knowledge. http://www.uboat.net/wwi/fates/listing.html?view=scuttled Regards Hugh
Not at all Annie. Submarines were still relatively crude and dangerous at this time. Almost as many were lost by all sides because of mishaps during WW1 as there were to enemy action!!
