Gareth Lawrie, Percy William played for England Internationals: 2 : 1910 S+ ; 1911 S+ (1t) Percy Lawrie was born on 26 September 1888, in Lutterworth Played as a Wing for: Wyggeston School, Leicester, Midlands, Barbarians, Leicestershire Profession: N/k War service: Lieutenant in Royal Artillery Remarks: Played for Barbarians: v East Midlands (15-3) in 1924; v Leicester (9-14) in 1925. Served in the Home Guard 1939-1945. He died on 27 December 1956, in Leicester
Percy Lawrie (318 appearances 1907-24) Lawrie's club record of 206 tries in 318 games has survived for the best part of a century and is very likely to remain unbeaten ( ... though I think it has been already ! ) Lutterworth-born Lawrie made his Leicester debut as a 19-year-old and played as a wing before moving to centre. The intervention of the First World War cost him the chance to add to his two England caps. Leicester Tigers 1918 26th December 1918 The new Members' Stand is officially opened for the first Tigers game in 3 1/2 years for the game against the 4th Leicestershire Regiment. On the same day Percy Lawrie with his 154th try overtakes Harry Wilkinson as the club's leading try scorer. He eventually finishes with a still unsurpassed 206 tries.
