I am installing a new secuirty system this evening to sop the bots that have managed to get around the current system. The forum will be down for about an hour whilst this is setup. Thanks Lee
Should be fine now. I am a member of well known and very security conscious technical forum, I got the same pm there as some were getting here, even the best cant keep them out!
Its the 1st of feb and I have just received anther PM containing spam from this site. If this continues I will delete my membership and warn others not to join because of this. I have just about had a gut full. Andrew.
Like the others, I too have received *spam* (twice) requesting me to do a virus scan. I didn't join this site to be subjected to this excreta Until you trace and remove the parasite who is abusing this forum kindly remove my subscription. I expected better than this. ...Bill
I have now received my second PM Spam from you. I will now be informing all members of societys that i am a member of to steer clear of this site. I have been a member of the Aerodrome forum for 12 years and The Great War Fourm for 7 or so years and in that time have never received any spam from those sites. Perhaps you should shut this site until it is secure. Andrew twice as pissed off as before.
I've also received this spam. The spammer is using your email address to send these, Lee and has ensured everything matches the initial account verification email you first send: I include it in full for your information here, obviously no-one should click on any links in such an email: DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL! *************************** Dear Lau, You have received a new private message at World War 1 Forums from forumAdmin, entitled "Important message from the forum administration!". I too have recieved the above message via email directing me to wwi forum. Have just wrote to admin asking if above is genuine, obviously i hadnt read this page and took note of other members concerns having recieved same message. I too must now consider ceasing membership of an otherwise intersting and purposful site.
Having considered i have now wrote to admin requesting they discontinue my subscription/membership of WW1 Forums. I will no doubt continue to visit as a guest( should the problem be rectified i would hope to re register) and wish the site success for the future.
As I have explained, this is not an issue on this forum alone. The software developers did create a patch but it did not work, it affects many thousands of forums out there. We are unfortuantely unable to do anything about it at this time. However in order to prevent anyone else getting the messgae I have disabled all internal messaging systems which is the carrier of the spam.
