I looking for any info on my uncle Francis Cecil Hitchcox. He originally enlisted with his Local Regiment the Sherwood Foresters,later being transfered to the 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusilliers.Service Num 20364.Buried in the Military Cemetary at Etaples.Grave Num XXX111.E.214 .- ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY Country:France.died on the 7th April 1918 He was wounded on the Somme & Etaples being a distribution centre,I presume he died in one if the many hospitals there. jonbard
Hi Jonbard, Do you have a photo of his wargrave? I will check what records i have and see if it may shed some light on how he died. It looks like he was taking part in the Spring Offensive but its also still possible that he was killed in action and taken to Etaples for burial. Sniper

This was my uncle as well, which makes us cousins! I don't have any other information though. My mum had the telegrams etc saying he was missing and later that he had been killed in action, but I have no idea what happened to them.
