I thought that you might be interested in a bill introduced in Congress that would raise funds for Revolutionary War and War of 1812 battlefield conservation through the sale of commemorative coins in 2009 (if passed). This would be just like the campaign to raise funds for the preservation of Civil War battlefields that was so successful. The bill, H.R. 158, was introduced as part of a package of bills sponsored by Rep. Holt, (D-NJ 12th Dist) to help preserve American Revolution and War of 1812 battlefields. The coins would raise funds that would be utilized by a battlefield foundation. In addition, his proposed H.R. 160 would create matching grants for efforts to acquire lands associated with the battles of the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Individuals interested in supporting these two pieces of legislation should write their U.S. Representative via e-mail.
