    Yes a busy time and interesting to see some of the RAN deeds outside the Med and Indian and Pacific oceans.

    It is one of the sad injustices of history that Leading Seaman "Buck" Taylor of HMAS Yarra did not receive a Victoria Cross for his actions. After the order to abandon ship had been given, Taylor single handedly continued to work his 4 inch gun and return fire at the enemy until he was killed, just before the Yarra went down. There were no officers surviving to recommend the award.
