I have always been fascinated with the Civil War stuff. I do not believe there was many technical strategies implimented by either side during these battles. Never understood why they stood in lines close together and fired. I know that was the method of the time, but couldn't they have forseen the amount of casualties that was to come?
At the time, everyone thought the war would be ovet as the North would crush the south. However, it turned out to be much longer battles. Plus, strategies were different for each side as the south was only defending their own turf unlike the North who was trying to conquer and take control. I think it was part of the north's strategy to take advantage of its bigger man supply and overwgelm the South.
