Thanks so much for sharing this. It is unfortunate that there were so few people who tried to do the right thing during this time and that there are so few stories of people being helped. I am glad that the people who were able to meet this man and escape the tragedies of this time were spared...only wishing that there had been more. Bless the heroes, both recognized and not, for standing up for what you knew to be right...even if it was silently.
I think that there were quite a number of "Schindlers" throughout Europe--although, God knows we needed more! These men--and women--risked their lives to do the decent, moral, right and humanitarian thing during those dark, dark days. As individuals, these people may have been forgotten today, but all of them, and the work that they did, is celebrated in the stories of people like Oskar Schindler and Hugh Grimes.
Thanks for story, not suprising that some people of either religion want to forget it, thankfully this good man, who saw the dangers firsthand of austrias jewish population, saw the real human threat and cost, and put all things aside to do the right thing
