I'm an officer in the American Legion, and yesterday, several of us performed a flag retirement ceremony at a local nursing home. One of the residents there was one of the rangers who scaled the cliffs at Pointe-Du-Hoc on D-day.He also served in the battle of the Bulge, and after the European campaign, was transferred to the Pacific theater. He told me that out of the original 512 men in his battalion,he was one of only 28 survivors.
Wow, that's a great story, cavtrooper! Thanks for sharing it. It's good to know a few of these brave men are still kicking.
