I remember one TV show where a WW II vet said that a round hit the bomb under a Japanese plane. The plane of course blew up and shrapnel hit the sailors on the ship who fired the round. Anyone else hear about this kind of thing?

The RAF bomber The crews reported huge explosions in the skynight sky when on operations against Germany ww2 , the intelligence Officers told the crews that it was a German secret weapon , and code named them 'Scarecrows' , it was only after the war that it was found to be RAF bombers being hit in the bomb bays causing them to be blown out of the sky by their own bomb load , and no known German weapon existed.

For what it is worth, I found the YouTube video about this. The vet's name is Jack Faulls, aboard LCS-51, steaming next to USS Laffey during a battle where 7 Kamikazes hit Laffey & 51. USS Laffey is now a museum ship at Patriots Point, SC
Here is the video: . At 21.34 in the video, Faulls tells about a bomb going off beneath a Kamikazes plane and sending rivets into the arm of another man next to him, in the gun tub. I thought that was interesting.
