I just wanted to say thank you for this thread... one of the things I enjoy most in life is learning new things. As I've admitted here more than once, WWII is an area where I could use a LOT more learning! The Generals... very interesting reading. Keep 'em coming!
You are welcome. I present to you another bit of World War 11 History involving Russia. A story of one of the most acclaimed Russian Soldiers, whose name was Vasily Zaitsev. A movie titled "Enemy at the Gates" starring Jude Law as Vasily and Ed Harris as a German Master Sniper, depicted the heroic actions of Vasily Zaitsev, who was a sniper in the Russian Army. Snipers paid a pivotal role in defeating the German 6th Army which had invaded Russia. It's important to note that many of the Russian snipers were women who also achieved impressive results.
