Hi: I'm new to the group and am hoping for some help regarding my uncle who was a stoker on the HMS Exter. After the rescue the survivors eventually ended in Macasser... When they disembarked from the Op Ten Noort (dutch hospital ship that brought them to Macasser) they were marched through a village to Camp Macasser, "Japanese Officials with cine cameras filmed their long walk from the ship to the camp" Has anyone done research in the Japanese Archives? I would love to be able to find out where the films are and maybe get a copy of this terrible "long walk" as the Japanese called it. Any suggestions or help appreciated. He has passed now, so we are just trying to piece together his journey so his grandchildren, and future descendants, will know all that he sacrificed for their freedom. Thanks for reading, Eileen Santen
