On the eve of the German offensive, Britain had available 704 operational fighters, of which 620 are Hurricanes and Spitfires, supported by 350 bombers. Germany can call on 2,669 aircraft, mostly bombers: normanl bombers (1,015 of them Do-17, Do-217, Do-215, He-111, Ju-88) plus 346 single engined dive bombers (Stukas) and 375 twin engined Me-110 fighter bombers. Their fighter force comprises 933 single engined Me 109's.
Waves of German fighters and bombers carry out attacks on South-East and Channel Coasts in daytime raids. Over 200 planes attack radar stations at Portland and Weymouth. The RAF attacks enemy targets in France.
