    Hi Keith,

Have looked for 3rd Portsmouth Battalion but can only find 1st and 2nd Battalions. Are you sure there was a 3rd Battalion?

    Keith,

Could it of been the 16th Battalion which was a reserve battalion? I can find no reference to any of the battalions being called the 3rd Portsmouth Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment whatsoever. The 17th and 18th Battalions were also reserve Battalions which were Home Service Battalions. In all three cases each Battalion all i can find is one casualty for each of them.
    16th Battalion (Reserve)
Owen R F 2nd Lt no known grave and is on the Arras Memorial
    17th Battalion (Home Service)
Faulkner H C Pte Not listed on the CWGC website
    18th Battalion (Home Service)
Tooby A E Pte Also not listed on the CWGC website

    Hope that bit helps

    Hi Keith,

Found this little snippet for you, don't know how much it will help.

    3rd (Reserve) Battalion
August 1914 : in Winchester. A depot/training unit, it remained in UK throughout the war. Moved on mobilisation to Parkhurst (Isle of Wight) and in January 1915 to Gosport for duty with Portsmouth Garrison.

    Thanks Mike,
    No that's great it helps.
All so do you have any pictures of graves for two Royal Garrison Artillery boys buried in St Mary's church grave yard in Portchester castle, if you haven't, I will pass them on to you as my dad has taken pictures of them and he is taking pictures of any RA or R.G.A grave stones he see on his travels.
This could go with your collection that your putting together of WW1 graves.
    Regards
    Keith

P.S also do you have any info on Doeberitz Prisoners of war camp as I'm researching my Wife's Great Grandfather Denis Kearns of the 1 Royal marine Brigade who landed at Ostend in August 1914, he was the Youngest "Old Contemptible"of WW1.
He was captured near Antwerp on the 13th October 1914 aged 14 and 9 months and is in the Guinness Book Of Records for this, and he was nicked named the War baby of Doebertiz by the Germans.
Attached is a picture of Denis Kearns as a prisoner in Doebertiz

    Hi Keith,

I will see what i can find out about the POW camp you asked about, i do have quite a lot of books which may have information in so i will check them out for you.

All grave photos are welcome Keith. I will PM you my email address so you can send them directly to me there is you could. Are you just collecting all RA and RGA headstones from WW1 or are you trying to get WW2 as well? I maybe be able to get all of these listed for you on an excel spreadsheet if you want. I have the complete collection of casualties from both wars on seperate county and country spreadsheets.

Let me know if i can help in anyway.

    Regards
    Mike
